Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati temple is the most famous temple of Pune.
Pune is well known in near and far places for this temple.This temple adds a moon to the beauty and divine of Pune.The main Ganesha idol accounts to INR 1 crore(US $1,50,000).

Timings of Temple:The temple opens at 6.00 A.M and remains open till 10.45 P.M.
However, on the event of occassions like Ganeshotsav and other events, the temple remains open throughtout night

 History of Temple:
The temple is named after its builder,Dagadusheth Halwai.His original surname was Gadve, and he was from Karnataka.Later on, he settled to Maharashtra and started sweet shop.He became very famous for his
sweets.

Everything was going great, but there was a sudden break of plague during that time and Dagdusheth lost his son in this epidemic.As a result of this incidence, Dagdusheth and his wife became very sad and depressed.During this time, Guru Shri Madhavnath, who was the Guru of Dagdusheth, told him to make idols of God Datta Maharaj and Lord Ganesha and to worship them and take its care like his own child.Considering the advice of his Guru, Dagdusheth built these 2 temples.
And just like the children carry forwards the name of their family generations and generations forward, the name of Dagdusheth Halwai has become immortal by the name of this temple


Speciality of the Temple:

Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati is considered to be the richest deity in Pune. 
The idol is 7.5 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
The idol is graced with nearly 8 kilos of gold. Many devotees offer tons of gold and money to this idol every year. Also heaps of coconuts is offered to the deity.
Thus, the idol is a great example of sheer beauty

Parvati is situated 2100 feet(640 m) above the sea level.Being at 260 feet above the city level, it provides an awesome view of the entire city.It is a great heritage of the city and was built in the Peshwa Dynasty.

The gate opens at 5.00 A.M in the early morning and closes at 8.00 P.M in the night.

History of the Temple:

Parvati temple was, long before, famous for its miraculous healing power behavior. Kashibai, mother of the third Peshwa, Shrimant Nana Saheb, had a sever ailment in her right foot. So she went to this temple, located in the South of Pune, and prayed to God to cure her foot. She vowed to God that if her foot was recovered, she would build a temple over there. After that, she was recovered, and as she had promised, her son, Nana Saheb, built this Temple over there and this temple came into existence.

Speciality of the Temple:
  There are 2 famous festivals celebrated at this temple: 
  1. Shravanmas Utsav:  Shravan Maas(month) is considered as the holiest month of the year, by Hindu calendar, which starts in late July and ends by third week of August. It is considered that offering prayers to Lord Shiv in this month brings great good will to one's life.And so , around 25,000 devotees visit the temple every Monday in Shravanmas to offer prayers.  
  2. Kartikeya Swami Utsav: In Maharashtra, there are very few Kartikeya temples and the Karteikeya Swami temple of Parvati is one of them.Lord Kartikeya is worshipped as the God of wealth and is believed to bestow financial stability and well-being on the worshippers.                                           On Tripura Poornima or Karthika Poornima, around lakhs of devotees come here on to take darshan.The temple is open for darshan throughout the night, on this day. It is believed that those who come here for darshan of Lord Kartikeya on this day , enjoy financial stability throughout the year. Traditionally, women were not permitted to see the idol Kartikeya for the fear of receiving the curse of widowhood and hence, usually no woman enters the temple of Kartikeya  Swami throughout the year, but only on this day, all are permitted to go and worship the God Kartikeya.As a result, on this day, huge numbers of devotees, including men and women, can be seen.

Significance of Tripura Poornima:
    Karthika Poornima is celebrated on full moon day of Kartika month, usually in Novemeber-December. It's also known as Tripura Poornima.
This day is celebrated as the birthday of Kartikeya, the god of war and son of Shiva. Another significance of this month is that Karthika Month is the only month in which both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are worshipped.
